Upload a single file: Students submit their work via Moodle (a bit like sending an e-mail with an attachment). This is called ‘uploading’.The tutor views the assignment via Moodle and adds the grade and comments. This is a useful tool as it stores all the assignments and grades in one place. An account can also be set-up for moderators to access the assignments.

Offline assessment: Gives details of the assignment (questions, criteria etc) but students don’t submit the work via Moodle. The teacher grades the work and gives comments on Moodle. This is what would be used for practical assessments or where paper-based assignments are handed into the teacher for marking.

Advanced Uploading of files: This allows students to more than one file for marking (eg: essay and PowerPoint) and / or have the option to submit drafts. The teacher can view the work and add comments to Moodle.Students can make changes and upload the assignment again. The tutor can choose how many files the learners can upload. The student can also add notes when they upload to give the tutor further information.

On-line text: Students type in their answers here rather than write them and upload them as separate documents.
